The 229th Army Band has been a part of the Maryland National Guard since 1917. The 229th is one of the few Army Bands to have received battle honors, participating in the D-Day invasion of Normandy during the Second World War.
The band consists of citizen soldier musicians of the Maryland Army National Guard. We are Government workers, police officers, teachers, professional musicians, nurses and college students – a true cross section of our community.
The 229th Army Band has multiple ensembles that are capable of performing a wide variety of musical styles a rock band, jazz band, brass quintet, brass band, and woodwind group.
